Learning to Love Yoga
|
Before coming to Moving Spirit, I had done yoga in other settings and it was never exactly what I expected. It always felt stiff and awkward. But here I've learned that yoga is much more dynamic with constant adjustments in poses. I now look forward to yoga every week and am glad I stuck with it long enough to learn a better way!

Kids Summer Yoga Camp is Super-Duper Fun!
|
Thank you for creating such wonderful summer yoga camps for kids. My 7-year-old and 11-year-old have had a blast! They thrived on your blend of art, games, dress-up, storytelling, journaling, and of course yoga…all infused with joy. They look forward to each day because, in their words, "Yoga camp is super-duper fun!"

Arthritis Prevention and Healing through Yoga at Moving Spirit
|
Seven years ago I realized I was no longer turning my head to look left or right, but was turning my torso. The "why" of this was that it was too painful in the back of my neck to turn just my head. X-rays verified cervical arthritis so off I went to PT. My insurance paid $3K for 3 months of my diligent pool therapy. There was scant improvement.
I sought alternative help…this chiropractic skeptic settled on a practitioner who in 45 visits over 8 days gave me back the ability to swivel my head a full 180 degrees pain-free. When he told me I was done and needn't come back, I fearfully asked what I could do to prevent its return. This middle-aged hockey player told me to take yoga!!
And so I did take yoga! And it's worked for me! Though my neck is quite noisy when I turn my head, I turn it without fear of that sharp pain of yesteryear!! Of course there are other benefits of yoga, but to me it is the assistance in living with aging joints and accompanying arthritis that has made me a convert to the practice of yoga. Sites of injuries from auto and bicycle accidents, falls from horses and on the ski slopes have retained flexibility and strengthened over the now seven years that I have been practicing yoga at Moving Spirit.

Moving Spirit in the Netherlands!
Dance and the Child International
Netherlands, July 2006
In 2006, Rosemary was selected to be a presenter at Dance and the Child International. Rosemary and Michelle traveled to the Netherlands with a group of students and parents from Moving Spirit to share a workshop on yoga and movement with dancers from all over the world! We met new friends, tried new dance styles, and helped to set the world record for the biggest clog dance ever!!
